The Waste Group's New Years' Resolution

2018 - More community involvement!

Being a local skip hire company, covering Bournemouth, Poole, Wareham, Swanage, Dorchester and surrounding areas, there is a lot of opportunity for us to make a difference to the local community. As “The Sustainable Future of Skip Hire”, protecting the environment and encouraging recycling is integral to what we do but supporting the people in our local environment is also highly important.

Community activities supported so far...

Wareham Wednesday's Bonfire Night

You might have seen one of our lovely blue skips at the annual Wareham Wednesdays bonfire night, held at Wareham Rugby Club. This meant that all of the waste from the event could be taken care of sustainably. We also provided wood for the bonfire lit at the event.

Bournemouth Under 13 Colts Football Team

The Waste Group sponsored the Bournemouth Under 13 Colts in 2017 by funding their new kit. Find out more about the Under 13 Colts on the Bournemouth Sports FC website.

2018 Dorchester Beerex & Wareham Beerex

The Waste Group are proud to be sponsoring a barrel at the 30th Dorchester Beerex, a great way to raise money to support local charities. This years event will be held on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd February 2018 at the Dorchester Corn Exchange. The main charity benefiting from the proceeds of the Beer Festival is the Dorchester Social Stroke Club.

We are also supporting the 25th Wareham Beerex to be held on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st March 2018 in Wareham Masonic Hall. The main beneficiary of this event will be the Lexi May Trust; a Dorset based charity providing special days our for children with terminal illness or life limiting conditions.

Promoting the work of Ideas2action

As you may have seen in our previous blog post, Ideas2action are a local organisation running recycling projects across Poole & Bournemouth, saving waste from landfill and raising money for charities. We are working with Ideas2Action to see how we can support this great cause. See for more information on the inspiring work this organisation does, and how you can get involved.

But we want to do more…

As well as working for a sustainable future, our new years resolution is to increase our community involvement even further, whether this is through donation of time, funds or resources. Sarah Levett, Head of Marketing & Sustainability, is looking for ways to help us to increase the positive impact we have on the community; “All companies have a responsibility to do good and promote good, and increasing our community involvement is a very important part of this, that we are excited to increase over the coming months”.
