Asbestos Disposal Cost Calculator

What will your asbestos disposal cost?

Most asbestos pages will not give you a price. We will. Enter your postcode and roughly what you have, and the calculator below works it out from our published 2026 rates — transport for your zone, the Environment Agency consignment note, and a charge per item.

No “POA”, no call-back required to find out roughly what you are looking at. If you want a fixed written price, request a quote and we will confirm it before anyone books a date.

This is an estimate, not a quote. It uses our published 2026 rates and assumes bonded asbestos in a condition we can legally collect. Waiting over 30 minutes on site is charged at £144/hr. Items above the standard weight bands cost more. A fixed written price comes with the quote.

How asbestos disposal is priced

Three things make up the cost of a van collection, and it is worth understanding each because the balance shifts depending on what you have.

  • Transport — a fixed charge based on how far you are from the depot. This is the biggest single element for a small load, and it is why one collection of ten bags costs far less than ten collections of one bag.
  • The consignment note — a one-off £50.40 inc VAT admin charge per booking, covering the hazardous waste paperwork the Environment Agency requires on every asbestos movement. It is not optional and it is not a hidden extra; it appears on every job.
  • Per item — charged by weight band. Bags of bonded debris, sheets or wrapped panels, and heavier items like doors, tanks and boilers each have their own rate.

For larger or commercial loads an enclosed skip or RoRo container is usually cheaper per tonne than a van, because you are paying transport once for a much bigger volume.

What the calculator does not include

It prices disposal — collecting your asbestos and taking it to a permitted facility under a consignment note. It does not price removal. We are a licensed waste carrier, not a removal contractor: we handle the waste once it is safely down and bagged.

Two things can change a final price and neither can be calculated in advance: waiting time beyond the 30 minutes included on site, charged at £144 per hour, and items above the standard weight bands. Both are confirmed before work starts.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a quote?

No — it is an estimate from our published rates, and it assumes the material is bonded asbestos in a condition we can legally collect. A fixed written price comes with a quote.

Why does my postcode change the price?

Asbestos is priced by distance from the depot across seven national zones. Only the transport charge changes between zones; the consignment note and per-item rates are the same everywhere.

Do I have to pay the consignment note charge?

Yes. Every movement of asbestos waste in England and Wales must travel under a hazardous waste consignment note. The £50.40 covers producing and lodging it.

Is a skip cheaper than a van collection?

Only above a certain volume. For a garage roof or a few soffit boards a van collection is considerably cheaper. For a full strip-out or a commercial job an enclosed skip or RoRo works out better per tonne.

Can I put asbestos in a normal skip?

No. It is illegal and dangerous. Asbestos needs a dedicated enclosed container from a licensed carrier — see can asbestos go in a skip for the rules.

What if I am outside Dorset?

Van collection is priced nationally across England and Wales and the calculator covers every zone. Skip and RoRo rates shown are Dorset; for skip or RoRo elsewhere, call 0800 652 0160 and we will price it.

Do I need to bag it myself?

For a van collection the material should be double-bagged or wrapped and ready to load. If it is not, tell us when you book and we will advise — it changes what we send.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Upper Tier Waste Carrier registration CBDU113405 and Environmental Permit EPR/EB3308GT. Every job comes with a consignment note as your legal audit trail.
