What asbestos disposal we provide
The Waste Group offers three asbestos disposal routes depending on the size and type of your job:
Asbestos skips (4, 6, 8, 12 yard) for builders, contractors and larger renovations where asbestos forms part of a wider clearance. Same-day or next-working-day delivery across Dorset, brokered nationally through our ARCA-accredited disposal partner.
RoRo containers (16, 20, 30, 40 yard) for commercial sites, demolition projects and industrial volumes. Suitable for bonded asbestos cement sheets, corrugated roofing, soffits and large structural removals.
Asbestos van collection for homeowners and small jobs — single garage roofs, soffit boards, fence panels, water tank lagging. We come to you, double-bag and seal on site, and provide your Waste Consignment Note before we leave.
If you are not sure which option fits your job, call 0800 652 0160 — we will tell you straight, with a fixed price, no callback chains.
Brokered through ARCA-accredited disposal — why this matters
We do not run our own asbestos disposal site. We broker every asbestos job through a partner accredited by the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA), the UK’s largest asbestos accreditation body. This is deliberate.
Asbestos disposal is governed by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005. The penalties for non-compliant disposal are severe — for the householder, the contractor and the receiving site. Brokering through an ARCA-accredited partner means every Waste Consignment Note we issue is backed by a fully licensed end-to-end audit trail, from the moment we collect to the moment the asbestos enters a permitted hazardous waste cell.
For you that means: one phone number, one fixed price, one document trail, full legal cover.
Call 0800 652 0160 to discuss your job with someone who can answer the compliance questions, not just take a booking.
Where we collect
The Waste Group arranges licensed asbestos collection and disposal across the South of England, through our partnership with Windsor Waste Management — a specialist hazardous waste operator with ARCA-accredited disposal facilities and nationwide coverage.
Service areas
We cover asbestos disposal across:
- Dorset — Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ferndown, Wareham, Swanage, Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport, Sherborne, Blandford Forum, Shaftesbury and the surrounding villages
- Hampshire — Southampton, Portsmouth, Eastleigh and the surrounding South Hampshire postcode areas
- Wiltshire — Salisbury, Swindon, Devizes and the wider SN, SP postcode areas
- Somerset and the South West — Bath, Reading and across the wider South of England
Collection timing
Collection is typically booked for next working day or within 48 hours, subject to disposal partner crew availability in your area. We can quote and confirm collection date during the same call, working days 8am to 5pm.
Not sure if we cover your postcode? Call 0800 652 0160 and we will tell you immediately.
How asbestos collection works
Step 1 — Get a price. Call 0800 652 0160 or submit our quote form. We confirm your postcode, the type and approximate quantity of asbestos, and the access situation at the property.
Step 2 — Fixed quote. No callback chains, no surveyors, no upselling. The quote covers collection, transport, disposal at a permitted facility and your Waste Consignment Note.
Step 3 — Book a date that suits you. Skip and RoRo deliveries are typically next working day in Dorset. Van collections are typically within 3-5 working days nationally.
Step 4 — Collection day. Our crew arrives in correctly liveried vehicles. Asbestos is double-bagged, sealed, labelled and loaded under PPE. We complete the Waste Consignment Note on site and leave a copy with you.
Step 5 — Disposal and audit trail. Asbestos is transported to a permitted hazardous waste facility. The duplicate Waste Consignment Note is signed at receipt and held on file for the legally required three years.
Asbestos disposal pricing
Asbestos disposal is priced per job because the variables matter — type of asbestos (bonded vs friable), quantity, access, and your postcode. We quote a fixed price up front so you know exactly what you are paying before any work starts. Every quote includes the Waste Consignment Note, transport, PPE and disposal at a permitted facility. There are no hidden charges.
Indicative starting prices:
Asbestos van collection (homeowner-scale, single garage roof or equivalent):
- From £306 inc VAT for Zone 1 (London and the Home Counties — SG, CM, SS, SL, KT, CR, AL postcodes)
- From £414 inc VAT for the South-West and South Coast (BH, DT, SO, SP, RG, PO, BS, BA, GL, OX, SN, TA postcodes)
- Other zones priced on enquiry — call for a fixed quote in your area
Asbestos skip (4, 6, 8, 12 yard) — priced per booking based on size, postcode and contents. Suitable for builders, renovations and clearances where asbestos forms part of a wider job.
Asbestos RoRo (16, 20, 30, 40 yard) — priced per booking. Trade and commercial jobs only.
Final pricing depends on the type of asbestos and the quantity. Bonded asbestos cement (corrugated roofing, soffits, fence panels) is the most common and the lowest-cost route. Friable asbestos requires specialist licensed removal — call us and we will route you appropriately.
Call 0800 652 0160 for a fixed price for your specific job — typically under three minutes from postcode to confirmed quote.
Compliance and paperwork
The Waste Group is registered with the Environment Agency as an Upper Tier Waste Carrier (registration CBDU113405) and operates under environmental permit EPR/EB3308GT. Our ARCA-accredited disposal partner holds the relevant hazardous waste permits at the receiving facility.
Every asbestos collection includes:
- A Waste Consignment Note completed on site, with your copy left with you and a duplicate held on file
- Confirmation of the receiving facility and the permit number under which the asbestos is disposed
- Photographic evidence of bagging, sealing and loading where requested
- Three-year retention of all consignment notes (the legal minimum) — copies available on request
If you are a landlord, contractor or property manager and need consignment note documentation supplied to a third party (insurer, council, building control, principal contractor), tell us at the time of booking and we will route the paperwork accordingly.
For commercial enquiries requiring written compliance statements before booking, call 0800 652 0160 and ask for the office team.
Frequently asked questions about asbestos disposal
The questions below are the ones we hear most often from homeowners and contractors planning an asbestos disposal job. If your situation isn’t covered, call 0800 652 0160 and we’ll talk it through.
Most local council Household Waste Recycling Centres in Dorset do not accept asbestos. The few HWRCs that do (such as Andover, Basingstoke, Efford, Netley and Portsmouth) typically restrict by quantity, require pre-booking, and ask for asbestos to be double-bagged in 1000-gauge polythene before arrival. For most homeowners, a licensed collection is faster and removes the risk of being turned away at the gate.
We collect bagged and sealed asbestos that has already been removed. We do not carry out asbestos removal itself — that is licensed work performed by HSE-licensed asbestos removal contractors. If you need removal as well as disposal, we can refer you to an ARCA-accredited removal contractor in your area.
We collect bonded asbestos cement products (corrugated roofing, soffits, fascia, fence panels, water tanks, drainpipes, garage roofs) and other non-friable asbestos. Friable asbestos and asbestos insulation board (AIB) require specialist licensed removal — call 0800 652 0160 and we will route you to a licensed removal contractor.
Van collections are sized for typical homeowner quantities — up to a single garage roof or equivalent. Larger jobs use a 4, 6, 8 or 12 yard skip. Demolition-scale volumes use a 16, 20, 30 or 40 yard RoRo container. Call 0800 652 0160 with a description of what you have and we will tell you which option fits.
A Waste Consignment Note is the legal record that hazardous waste (including asbestos) has been transferred from you to a licensed carrier and disposed of at a permitted facility. The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005 require these notes to be retained for three years. We complete the consignment note on site and leave a copy with you. Without one, you have no legal proof of compliant disposal — which matters if you sell the property, are inspected, or face a complaint.
In Dorset, same-day collection is often available for jobs booked before 10am. Nationally, asbestos van collections are typically within 3-5 working days subject to crew availability in your area. Skip and RoRo deliveries are typically next working day for Dorset, next 1-2 working days nationally.
No. Our crew double-bags, seals and labels the asbestos on site under PPE. If you have already bagged it (using 1000-gauge red polythene, sealed and labelled), we will inspect, re-seal if necessary, and load. Either way, the legal disposal trail is identical.
Asbestos in a general skip cannot legally enter a non-hazardous waste facility. The skip is rejected, returned, segregated and the asbestos disposed of separately. This is expensive and slow. If you suspect asbestos in a renovation, tell us at the time of booking — we will quote the correct disposal route from the start.
Can I just take asbestos to my local recycling centre?
Most local council Household Waste Recycling Centres in the South of England do not accept asbestos. The few centres that do typically restrict by quantity, require pre-booking, and ask for asbestos to be double-bagged in 1000-gauge polythene before arrival.
Before travelling, call your local HWRC to confirm — policies change without notice and being turned away with asbestos in the boot of the car is a wasted journey at best, and a regulatory complication at worst.
