What asbestos disposal we provide

The Waste Group offers three asbestos disposal routes depending on the size and type of your job:

Asbestos skips (6 and 12 yard open, or 16 yard enclosed) for builders, contractors and larger renovations where asbestos forms part of a wider clearance. Whole, properly wrapped sheets can travel in an open skip; broken or unwrapped material needs the enclosed container. Brokered through our ARCA-accredited disposal partner, with a delivery date agreed when you book.

RoRo containers (20 and 40 yard open, or 35 yard enclosed) for commercial sites, demolition projects and industrial volumes. Suitable for bonded asbestos cement sheets, corrugated roofing, soffits and large structural removals.

Asbestos van collection for homeowners and small jobs — single garage roofs, soffit boards, fence panels, water tank lagging. We come to you, load under PPE and provide your Waste Consignment Note before we leave.

Please note: on every route, bagging and wrapping the asbestos is the customer’s responsibility. What we handle is the container, the licensed transport, disposal at a permitted facility and all the Environment Agency paperwork. Brokered through ARCA-accredited disposal — why this matters

We do not run our own asbestos disposal site. We broker every asbestos job through a partner accredited by the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA), the UK’s largest asbestos accreditation body. This is deliberate.

Asbestos disposal is governed by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005. The penalties for non-compliant disposal are severe — for the householder, the contractor and the receiving site. Brokering through an ARCA-accredited partner means every Waste Consignment Note we issue is backed by a fully licensed end-to-end audit trail, from the moment we collect to the moment the asbestos enters a permitted hazardous waste cell.

Asbestos collections and container deliveries are booked in through our disposal partner, subject to crew availability in your area. We quote and agree a date with you during the same call, working days 8am to 5pm — so you have a confirmed date before you commit, rather than a promise we cannot keep.

How asbestos collection works

Step 1 — Get a price. Call 0800 652 0160 or submit our quote form. We confirm your postcode, the type and approximate quantity of asbestos, and the access situation at the property.

Step 2 — Fixed quote. No callback chains, no surveyors, no upselling. The quote covers collection, transport, disposal at a permitted facility and your Waste Consignment Note.

Step 3 — Book a date. Asbestos containers and collections are booked in through our ARCA-accredited disposal partner rather than dropped on demand. We agree a date with you on the call, so you know where you stand before you commit.

Step 4 — You wrap, we load. Bagging and wrapping the asbestos is the customer’s responsibility — double-bagged in 1000-gauge polythene, sealed and labelled, or whole sheets wrapped as parcels. Our crew arrives in correctly liveried vehicles, inspects the material is correctly presented, loads it under PPE, completes the Waste Consignment Note on site and leaves a copy with you. If you are unsure how to wrap something, call before you start.

Step 5 — Disposal and audit trail. Asbestos is transported to a permitted hazardous waste facility. The duplicate Waste Consignment Note is signed at receipt and held on file for the legally required three years.

Asbestos disposal pricing

We publish real starting prices rather than “price on application”. Every quote includes the Waste Consignment Note, transport, PPE and disposal at a permitted facility. All prices below are inc VAT and carry a £42 admin charge per job, which covers the Environment Agency hazardous waste paperwork — the consignment note, the registration and the three-year record.

Dorset and the South Coast (BH, DT, SO, SP, PO, and GL, OX, RG, BS, SN, BA, TA postcodes):

• Asbestos van collection — from £364. Homeowner scale: a single garage roof, soffit boards, fence panels or equivalent. Priced per item after that — £9.20 per bag (10–15 kg), £18.60 per sheet or wrap (20–25 kg), £38.40 per door or boiler (30 kg).
• Asbestos skip — from £2,240, including 2 tonnes of bonded asbestos. 6 and 12 yard open, or 16 yard enclosed. Excess tonnage £342 per tonne.
• Asbestos RoRo — from £2,650, including 3 tonnes. 20 and 40 yard open, or 35 yard enclosed. Trade and commercial jobs only.

London and the Home Counties (SG, CM, SS, SL, KT, CR, AL postcodes) are a cheaper transport zone — van collection starts from £256. Other zones are quoted on enquiry; call for a fixed price in your area.

Which container do I need? Whole, properly wrapped asbestos cement sheets can travel in an open skip. Broken, poor-condition or unwrapped material must go in a fully enclosed container. Bagging and wrapping is the customer’s responsibility on every route, so if you are not confident doing it, take the enclosed container — it stays compliant either way.

Skip and RoRo hire runs for 28 days, after which a rental charge of £7 per day applies until the container is exchanged or collected.

Bonded asbestos cement (corrugated roofing, soffits, fence panels) is the most common and lowest-cost route. Friable asbestos — lagging, sprayed coatings, insulating board — requires a licensed removal contractor; call us and we will route you appropriately.

Compliance and paperwork

The Waste Group is registered with the Environment Agency as an Upper Tier Waste Carrier (registration CBDU113405) and operates under environmental permit EPR/EB3308GT. Our ARCA-accredited disposal partner holds the relevant hazardous waste permits at the receiving facility.

Every asbestos collection includes:

• A Waste Consignment Note completed on site, with your copy left with you and a duplicate held on file
• Confirmation of the receiving facility and the permit number under which the asbestos is disposed
• Photographic evidence of bagging, sealing and loading where requested
• Three-year retention of all consignment notes (the legal minimum) — copies available on request

If you are a landlord, contractor or property manager and need consignment note documentation supplied to a third party (insurer, council, building control, principal contractor), tell us at the time of booking and we will route the paperwork accordingly.

Can I just take asbestos to my local recycling centre?

Most local council Household Waste Recycling Centres in the South of England do not accept asbestos. The few centres that do typically restrict by quantity, require pre-booking, and ask for asbestos to be double-bagged in 1000-gauge polythene before arrival.

Before travelling, call your local HWRC to confirm — policies change without notice and being turned away with asbestos in the boot of the car is a wasted journey at best, and a regulatory complication at worst.
