Why do we refuse to transport full skips?
One of the main things to consider when hiring a skip is the size of it as it needs to be able to fit exactly what you need to be disposed. However, many people do not realise how much waste they’re allowed to put in their skip and what can happen if it’s above the limit. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you make sure you know when your skip is full and why you shouldn’t overload it.
SKIP HIRE SIZING
The most important thing to get right in the skip hire process is the size. Before you hire any kind of skip you need to carefully assess how much waste you need disposed. Our website shows all the size skips we provide and an example of what you can fit inside them.
Remember, if you’re not sure, just contact us! We are a team of experts who can help find the right skip size for you. Just let us know what kind of waste you need to dispose of and how much and we will assist you.
WHY IS SKIP SIZE SO IMPORTANT?
Many people may believe that a skip is ready to be transported when it is full to the brim, but actually this is not the case! For a full skip to be legally transported, it has to be filled only slightly to the top. Most skips, including ours, include a ‘load line’ on the inside that will let you know the maximum height that you can load it to.
So why is it so important to not fill your skip to the brim? As well as the legal requirements mentioned, it is a health and safety danger for not just your own property but your neighbours too. Waste could be left around your building, road and other areas near you which is not only unpleasant but could cause problems on the road if the waste is too big.
As well as this, if a skip is too full it will be too heavy for us to transport it from your property to our recycling centre. We will refuse to transport it if it’s too full, so make sure you stick to the limit.
Hopefully you now have a clearer idea of how much waste you should put in your skip and what size you will need. Any other questions? Call us on 0800 652 0160 and we can point you in the right direction!
